The 15th SENDA Awards saw Fundación Telefónica win the prize for the Promotion of Active Ageing through its RECONECTADOS project. Technology is ageless.
The RECONECTADOS programme, a Fundación Telefónica initiative that seeks to improve the quality of life of the elderly through technology, has won the SENDA Award for the Promotion of Active Ageing. This recognition highlights the positive impact of digitisation on elderly people, promoting an active and healthy lifestyle.
“We aspire to honour a generation that’s neither a shadow nor an echo, it’s a living voice that fills the space and time we live in” – Luis Prendes, managing director of Fundación Telefónica.
The recognition was made public on Thursday 28 November at CaixaForum Madrid. The award ceremony was attended by different organisations and professionals committed to the well-being of the elderly and active ageing.
The RECONECTADOS initiative aims to equip older people with the digital skills they need to stay active, independent and connected in current-day society.
The above was reflected in the words of Luis Prendes, the managing director of Fundación Telefónica, on receiving the award. He declared that “the digital revolution isn’t an uncertain future, it’s a reality that’s already present, one in which we all have a healthy and profound obligation to play a key role and not be mere spectators. Because the digital era knows of no eras or ages. We each have the right to write our own history. Because the digital revolution isn’t a passing train, it’s a river that flows and opens up in all directions”.
This prize, which was also given to our partner Supercaregivers, reflects Fundación Telefónica’s commitment to improving the quality of life of the elderly. It also reaffirms the importance of promoting active and healthy ageing through innovative initiatives such as RECONECTADOS.
