Software development is nowadays key to professional development. The demand and often shortage of this type of talent makes it the most sought-after profile in the technology sector and one of the most in-demand in general. In fact, according to data from the Employment Map, between January and April of this year, more than 8,700 vacancies were published in this field.

This shortage of trained professionals has made specialisation and continuous updating the key to standing out in the labour market.

Below, we tell you which are the most demanded roles in development according to the job offers published in specialised platforms such as ticjob.es.

The most sought-after profiles in BACKEND DEVELOPMENT

Backend development is fundamental to guarantee the correct functioning of applications and websites. Profiles such as pure backend development and DevOps are essential to build robust, scalable and secure systems. This is undoubtedly the most sought-after tech profile by companies.

Among the most sought-after skills are proficiency in languages such as Java, Python and Node.js, as well as solid knowledge of relational (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and non-relational (MongoDB) databases. In addition, experience with RESTful APIs and microservices-based architecture is highly valued.

Java in particular is requested in 22% of the offers followed by Node.js with more than 15% and Python with almost 14%. .Net, Cobol or Abap are some of the other most demanded languages in the field of backend development.

Likewise, continuous integration tools such as Jenkins, Docker and Kubernetes are also fundamental in the day-to-day work of these profiles, especially in DevOps environments. In terms of location, Madrid and Barcelona continue to be the main hiring hotspots, with a predominance of hybrid work.

Salaries for these profiles range between €35,000 and €55,000 gross per year, depending on the type of language and, above all, the experience and combination of technologies used.

The most in-demand profiles in FRONTEND DEVELOPMENT

Frontend developers are responsible for creating attractive, accessible and functional interfaces for the end user. The most demanded profiles in this field are Frontend Developers, with knowledge in HTML, CSS and JavaScript, as well as modern frameworks such as React, Typescript, Angular and Vue.js.

Among these, React is the most in demand, closely followed by Typescript.

Proficiency in tools such as Figma or Adobe XD for collaboration with design teams, as well as experience in version control with Git, are essential skills. In addition, performance optimisation and web accessibility have become key requirements in today’s projects.

In terms of location, frontend positions are also concentrated in large cities such as Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona.

Salaries in this field range from €32,000 to €50,000 gross per year, depending on experience, technologies handled, location and type of company.

Why train?

Software development requires continuous technical training. Although many professionals have degrees in Computer Engineering or Higher Level Training Cycles in Web and Mobile Application Development, self-taught learning and bootcamps are also common ways to enter the sector, especially with the great access that having artificial intelligence at our disposal implies.

Another training option in this field is offered by our programming campuses 42 Madrid, 42 Barcelona, 42 Malaga and 42 Urduliz Bizkaia. Under a free learning method, eminently practical, without teachers or theoretical classes; people interested in learning programming and specialising, as well as in the development of apps, software, web, etc. in any of the technological trends most in demand in the current job market.
