On the occasion of Telefónica's centenary, 42 Madrid Fundación Telefónica organised an "ideathon" for students on campus.

Around 50 boys and girls students of the free programming campus, 42 Madrid Fundación Telefónica, took part in one of the initiatives launched by Telefónica to celebrate its century of history.

Throughout the weekend, organised into teams, the participants had to face the challenge of imagining the future and devising solutions, services and applications and the role of Telefónica:

  • The arrival of the metaverse, 6G and the explosion of artificial intelligence. The groups that have faced this proposal have imagined how people will communicate in the near and more distant future.
  • Faced with the challenge of making the world more sustainable with projects to reduce environmental impact and to make technology a lever to tackle the challenge of climate change.
  • What role will the company play in the patient-healthcare professional relationship model?

Applying the 42 methodology of teamwork, practicality and gamification, the participants have devised what is yet to come in the scenarios proposed by the organisation. During the Ideathon, proposals and scenarios emerged that, although distant, are likely to become a reality in the current century.

The students of 42 Madrid took on the challenge of coming up with surprising projects and ideas and defending them before a jury that assessed, in addition to the suitability of the initiatives, the presentation and defence of the projects, as well as the dynamics of the teamwork during the weekend.

The jury was made up of: José María Álvarez-Pallete, Chairman of Telefónica and Fundación Telefónica, who listened with great interest to the proposals, accompanied by: Luis Prendes, Managing Director of Fundación Telefónica, Catherine Bohill, Director ESG Development and Impact, Rafael Fernández de Alarcón, Director Brand, Media, Research and Sponsorships, Yamil Salinas, Manager Creative Studio, David del Val, Director Open Gateway of Telefónica presented the prizes to the winners of the Ideathon.

The members of the winning teams, one in each of the proposed categories, were awarded with augmented reality glasses.
