What Is Not Seen

In the conjunction of What Is Not Seen, embraced by a selection of master works of contemporary photography and by exquisite pieces from Telefonica´s historical heritage, which visit Mexico for the first time, and by the reflections about this media shared by the semiotician Roland Barthes in his posthumous writings (Camera Lucida: Reflections on Photography, 1980), we find an exploration of simultaneity of signs. One of these is specifically focused on the essence of the portrait and the urban landscape: on the complex, and even difficult, present-day relationship man-city. Or parallel to this approach –stressed by the acknowledgment of the studium and the punctum, elements which arrange the photographic material within the Bartheian atlas- the observation of the visual phenomena which traces simultaneity of perception on the subjective condition, everyday life and the melancholy circumstance. Not in yesterday, but absolutely present.
