Do you want to collaborate to help address the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine? The Telefónica Foundation channels its aid through social organisations working in situ.
Right from the start of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, the Telefónica Foundation’s Social Action and Volunteer Programme has been in contact with the social organisations working in situ so that the aid can reach all those affected as efficiently as possible. Apart from the financial donation campaign in collaboration with Cruz Roja, we are currently coordinating initiatives to collect essential materials. This is already underway in the cities of Valencia and Madrid (at our Distrito Telefónica headquarters) so that we can join a convey organised by the Valencian Local Government together with various town councils in the Community and the Polish and Ukrainian Governments. We will provide regular updates as we discover more initiatives in other towns.
The Telefónica Foundation currently runs two types of initiatives: the the financial donation campaign with Cruz Roja and coordination of the collection of essential materials, a scheme we are pioneering.
The Telefónica Group will be collecting three types of items: non-perishable food, personal hygiene kits and first aid equipment. The materials will be collected and sent on the afternoon of Wednesday 16th. Some other major Spanish corporations such as CaixaBank, Endesa, Iberdrola, Indra, Repsol and Amadeus may also be joining this campaign.
As to the amount of the donation, it will be the amount collected from the employee campaign organised plus the amount contributed by the Telefónica Foundation itself.
The company itself is carrying out other initiatives to aid communication between families, friends and businesses. Movistar Spain and its German equivalent are offering free international phone calls and SMS between Spain and Ukraine and between Germany and Ukraine to all our customers, whether they are businesses or individual clients, for an indefinite period. Roaming is also free if they are in Ukraine.
