Understanding, anticipating and responding to the relevant problems of the societies where we are present is one of our principles of action and the award-winning tools, the 'Employment Map' and the 'Virtual Career Advisor', are an example of this.
Our tools ‘Employment Map’ and ‘Virtual Career Advisor’ have received the ADigital award, in the Data Value section, for the project “Big Data & AI for the improvement of employability in the digital era”. The organisation recognises the value of both solutions for their contribution to and promotion of inclusive digitalisation.
Tools for and by digital employability
Understanding, anticipating and responding to the relevant problems of the societies where we are present is one of our principles of action and the award-winning tools, the ‘Employment Map‘ and the ‘Virtual Career Advisor‘, are an example of this.
Technological change is transforming the jobs and skills required by the labour market worldwide. This transformation is occurring so rapidly that training and preparation of people in the skills required is becoming increasingly necessary. The lack of profiles prepared for this increases the gap between the skills demanded by the productive sector and those of the workforce.
To mitigate this situation, at Fundación Telefónica we set ourselves the challenge of acting to help people improve their employability and, in this way, contribute to reducing this gap.
For this reason, we developed these two solutions which, together, allow us to generate the information necessary to:
- Improve people’s digital employability and companies’ productivity.
- Promote the design of public policies and programmes for guidance, training, certification, and labour intermediation based on data, ensuring greater impact, relevance and efficiency of the programmes that are developed.
The ‘Employment Map’ provides detailed information on the current labour market situation in the country and the chatbot, ‘Virtual Career Advisor’ recommends training in the most demanded skills in the market as well as personalized career guidance for each user.
Both tools use Big Data and Artificial Intelligence technology to analyze job offers published on job portals and other sources, classify the information into groups of professions and roles and identify the competencies and skills that are in demand in those positions.
Both the Map and the Carreer Advisor would not have materialized without the collaboration of our allies, the employment platforms that act as data sources that feed these tools on a daily basis (published job offers). These allies are currently infojobs, tecnoempleo, ticjobs, bumeran, laborum, trabajando.com, chiletrabajos, bolsa nacional de empleo de Chile, multitrabajos and buscojobs.
