Anyone looking to adapt to this changing work environment should consider this option as an alternative to avoid being left behind.
In today’s job market, one of the key concepts when delving into professional retraining or career redirection is reskilling. Continuous learning has become an essential tool to update knowledge, enhance specialization, and facilitate access to digital job vacancies that are rapidly growing in this era of technological explosion.
Reskilling is a continuous learning process aimed at acquiring the technical skills and cross-disciplinary competencies that the job market demands.
But, who is reskilling suitable for? Whether the goal is to professionally retrain to maintain a competitive profile or to start or shift a career path, anyone seeking to adapt to the rapidly changing environment driven by digital transformation should consider this option as a way to avoid being left behind. Not only does it allow people to stay updated, but it also opens doors to new job opportunities, enabling professional reinvention.
With the aim of providing a tool that offers individuals options for professional development or the start of their career journey in the job market, the New Career Network has been launched. This new platform, created by Fundación Telefónica in collaboration with SAP, Iberdrola, and CEOE, seeks to close the digital skills gap through reskilling programs and by connecting qualified or retrained candidates with companies.
What is the NCN (New Career Network)?
The NCN (New Career Network) is a platform committed to empowering individuals by providing access to reskilling programs and job opportunities. Its mission is to bridge the gap between job seekers and the evolving demands of the market, facilitating access to new career paths. It is driven by R4E.
What is R4E (Reskilling 4 Employment)?
Reskilling 4 Employment (R4E) was announced by the European Round Table for Industry (ERT) in May 2021. ERT is a high-level forum that brings together CEOs and presidents of 60 European industrial and technology companies. R4E was developed by ERT’s Jobs, Skills, and Impact Committee after continuous research, outreach, and consultation aimed at identifying the best ways to address reskilling and upskilling needs in the European Union. This pan-European program aims to act as a hub that encourages various partnerships to provide reskilling opportunities for unemployed and/or at-risk workers and to facilitate job searches in emerging, in-demand occupations. The NCN is part of R4E’s efforts.
What makes NCN different from similar initiatives?
The NCN (New Career Network) offers a fully personalized reskilling experience based on skills and motivation, leveraging Artificial Intelligence. It is a network led by major European employers, designed to unite all parts of the ecosystem with a social, non-profit spirit. Currently, NCN programs focus on digital careers, and the job opportunities from Tecnoempleo—a job portal for IT and telecommunications—are part of this initiative.
How does NCN work?
The process begins with an assessment of your professional and transversal skills, using the platform’s AI algorithms. Based on this, the system identifies the career path that best fits your goals, motivations, and abilities. You can then choose a reskilling program and complete it successfully.
After completing a program, you gain access to a broad network of companies seeking your new skills and can apply for selected job openings to start your new professional journey.
