This award strengthens the positioning of "Campus 42 as a unique project in education for employability," as highlighted by Luis Prendes, General Director of Fundación Telefónica. Having become a benchmark for educational innovation, the 42 project reinforces its position as a high-quality training option focused on improving employment opportunities.
The programming campuses 42 promoted by Fundación Telefónica in Madrid; in Urduliz, alongside the Bizkaia Provincial Council; in Barcelona, in collaboration with the Barcelona City Council and the Generalitat de Catalunya; and in Málaga, together with the City Council, the Junta de Andalucía, and with the support of the Diputación de Málaga, have been recognized by Siena Educación with the Magisterio Award 2024.
The awards ceremony was attended by Fátima Báñez García, President of Fundación CEOE, Manny Díaz Jr., Minister of Education of Florida, and Esther Monterrubio Ariznabarreta, General Secretary for Vocational Training of the Government of Spain.
As part of Telefónica’s centennial year, Fundación Telefónica receives the Magisterio Award 2024, granted by Siena Educación as one of the key players contributing to global educational development through its work.
Campus 42 was born in September 2019 with the aim of providing people with free, high-quality education focused on preparing them for technological jobs—not just those of the present but also those that have not yet been created and will inevitably emerge due to constant technological evolution. It has become an educational benchmark.
Additionally, 42 was launched with the purpose of providing opportunities for progress and development so that anyone, regardless of their situation, has a chance to fulfill their dreams.
Luis Prendes, General Director of Fundación Telefónica, accepted the award from Roberto de Dalmases, Director of AulaPlaneta, accompanied by Marina Higueras and José Segura, both students of 42 Madrid.
During his speech, Luis Prendes thanked those “who, with their generosity, have made Fundación Telefónica’s Campus 42 project possible” and stated that “you honor with this a unique project in education for employability.” He also expressed his gratitude to the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Barcelona City Council, the Bizkaia Provincial Council, the Málaga City Council, and the Junta de Andalucía “because they believed in this project when no one else did.”
He concluded his remarks with a final thank you to the true protagonists of this award, the students of Campus 42 in Madrid, Urduliz (Bizkaia), Barcelona, and Málaga, assuring them that “you are the reason for everything we do. You are great and make no one feel small. We honor what you are, but above all, what you will become. And we say thank you for believing in dreams and for making your dreams come true. This is your award.”
For their part, both Marina Higueras and Pepe Segura stated that Campus 42 had changed their lives, and both expressed their pride in being part of this project. “It is an honor to be here on behalf of all the fellow students at the campuses in Spain. Both Pepe and I have had our lives changed by 42. For this reason, it is a source of pride to be a student of 42.”
