Telefónica and its Foundation mobilise to help Morocco

Telefónica, in support of the Moroccan people, launches the urgent campaign #MovilizadosPorElTerremoto, by means of financial donations and offering free communication between the two countries.

The donations, promoted by Fundación Telefónica together with the Red Cross, will go towards health and first aid material to help the victims. In addition, the Foundation will make a financial contribution that will be added to the amounts collected. All international calls and SMS sent from Spain to Morocco as well as roaming will be free from 9 to 17 September for Movistar and O2 customers.

Faced with the serious humanitarian crisis in Morocco as a result of the earthquake, the Telefónica Group is once again mobilising to help those affected by launching the urgent campaign #MovilizadosPorElTerremoto (Mobilised by the Earthquake).

Through Fundación Telefónica and together with the Red Cross, have been activated financial donations which will be used for health and first aid material to help the victims. In addition, the Foundation will make a financial contribution that will be added to the amounts collected.

Moreover, in order to facilitate communications in the affected areas, all international calls and SMS sent from Spain to Morocco will be free of charge from 9 to 17 September. In addition, Movistar customers in Morocco will also have free roaming for voice, data and SMS for the same period of time.

These measures apply to Movistar contract, prepaid and Telefónica Empresas, as well as O2.

Carmen Morenés, General Manager, Fundación Telefónica, points out that: “Fundación Telefónica is always ready to step up to the plate to help in times of humanitarian crises such as the one in Morocco. We are channelling all the generous support from the company and its employees so that the aid can reach those affected in our neighbouring country as quickly and effectively as possible.”
