The Feeding Solidarity initiative, run by the Telefónica Volunteers programme, has been acknowledged by the El Mundo/Actualidad Económica magazine as one of the 100 Best Ideas of the Year, in the CSR and Volunteering category.

Launched in 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 health crisis, the project has provided support for more than 1,800,000 people, thanks to the involvement of 8,500 volunteers and funds of almost €1m raised for the food banks. The solidarity initiatives making it possible were the Telefónica Foundation employees’ donation of their meal vouchers and distribution of food to those who need it the most. The Spanish Federation of Food Banks (FESBAL) distributes the aid amongst its 54 Food Banks, one in each Spanish province, which then attend aid organisations.

Carlos Ignacio Palacios, Global Manager of the Telefónica Volunteers programme, run by the Telefónica Foundation, received the award at an event held on May 27 in Madrid.
