Description

This paper analyzes the main social media websites (Facebook, Twitter, Tuenti, Youtube, Google+ and LinkedIn) and the way small businesses in Spain are using them as tools to increase sales and improve market positioning. The result is the product of a broad fieldwork based on a telephone survey to 600 people and several in-depth interviews to social media managers from small business, a task frequently carried out by the owners.

Moreover, the work includes a practical guide containing useful information and advice for those enterprises who wish to be present on social networks and to encourage those who are not to sign in. The guide shows as additional audiovisual content ten videos containing interviews to entrepreneurs who succeeded in their social media strategies, as inspiring case studies.

Finally, the book focuses on the relationships built by SMEs on LinkedIn and represents them on social graphs. It also shows how tourism sector, which accounts for 11% of the GDP of Spain, is using social media to increase its possibilities and visibility.
