To Live is to Share

Description

The work´s title, To live is to Share, refers to young people´s need to tell all about their personal and group experiences, sharing pictures, videos or links with their intimate circle in real time through mobile devices.

The study, accomplished by Fundación Telefónica, Universidad Rey Juan Carlos and Tuenti, analyzes young people´s attitudes and behaviors regarding social networks and it is based on personal interviews and on an online survey. The conclusions present a quiet different image of the passive youngster unaware of his surrounding reality that uses networks unconscious of their dangers. On the contrary, it shows how young people are aware of the advantages and dangers of social networks, including those risks regarding the privacy and security for their personal information, and how they mobilize for causes they feel relevant, becoming completely active digital citizens.

This work is aimed for parents, especially those worried about what are their sons doing on the Internet, but also for those professionals and social institutions that work with young people, such as teachers, which lack ways of using digital environments for working, teaching and promoting the students participation online in a constructive manner.
