An initiative launched to promote digital skills among women. A face-to-face and 100% free five-day experience in which they acquire technical knowledge related to web development, such as HTML, CSS and Javascript.

Our 42 programming campuses in Barcelona and Urduliz (Bilbao) have launched this initiative to promote digital skills among women.

For five days, in a face-to-face experience, they acquire technical knowledge related to web development (HTML, CSS and Javascript).

In addition, during these days they test, in first person, the 42 methodology:

  • 100% free training.
  • without timetables or teachers.
  • at their own pace, through self-learning and with their colleagues.
  • promoting transversal and soft skills such as teamwork, frustration tolerance and problem solving.

Almost 1000 women live the training experience in programming

The lack of female references in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) careers, together with the lack of knowledge about them, means that the presence of young women in university classrooms in these careers is minimal.

At Fundación Telefónica we promote actions that contribute to eliminating gender stereotypes associated with certain vocations and professions. All of them aim to promote female empowerment in STEAM disciplines from the early stages of education. In fact, in the four campuses of 42 we reserve 30% of places for women in the swimming pools, the last entrance exam to the campuses, and, in case they are not filled, these places are open to the public.

Until the end of 2022, this activity will be repeated in all our 42 programming campuses in Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga and Urduliz (Bizkaia), one of the most innovative in the world according to the WURI ranking. By the end of the year, around a thousand women (up 18 years old) in search of new professional horizons will have gone through this initiative with which they will complete a unique immersion in the world of programming.
