Issue 102 of Telos magazine is already out, whose central dossier analyses the topic of Tourism, Heritage and New Information and Communication Technologies. Around a dozen writers, researchers and experts, coordinated by Jesús Prieto and Enrique Bustamante, two respected analysts of the social role of culture, discussed the potential and transformations that new digital ICT have to offer the conservation, promotion and appropriation of tangible and intangible cultural heritage. In a context in which cultural tourism is growing apace, offering tremendous possibilities compared to the indifference of mass tourism but also posing a risk to the preservation of artistic and urban heritage, new ICT have emerged as a powerful tool for sustainable tourism.
Amongst other topics, the articles revolve around tourist communications in Latin America, Smart Cities and cultural heritage, and the knock-on effects of digitalizing our heritage.
Apart from the special section on tourism, this issue of Telos includes articles on other topics by various different experts, notably philosopher Daniel Innerarity, who examines the need to review certain basic concepts of digital citizenship.
